Duties and responsibilities: They help
protect the accuracy and ensure the accuracy of patient’s medical records. They
work with patient care data and ensure proper insurance payment. So they are
pretty much the ones who do the paper work for patients.
Salary: $37,710
Education: You have to be familiar with
medical vocabulary and insurance coding techniques. You have to have a minimum
of a bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree. The school has to be accredited
by cahiim.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to
be one; in my opinion I think that I wouldn’t want to be a health information
specialist. The reason why I wouldn’t want to be one is because I would want to
be a person who only does paper work. I would want to work in something where I
can help people and is more exciting or more of a challenge than just sit in a
desk.
