A choice: Poverty or Prosperity
“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.”

                         Dr. Ben Carson

Reflection: In my opinion I think that Ben Carson is right. If you really hate something you can change it. If you really want to change something you can change it if you work hard. In this case Ben Carson wanted to change how poor he was so he tried the most he could to accomplish what he really wanted. An example that I can give is if you really hate failing a class. If you really hate it the next time you would try really hard enough to not fail but at the end the result of your accomplishment is how hard you work.

“You can’t be right by doing wrong; you can’t be wrong by doing right.

                 Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: In my opinion I think that Thomas S. Monson is right. Every time you do something wrong it will never turn out right. Even if you do something wrong for a good outcome it will always end up wrong. In the other hand if you do something right it would not come out as a negative outcome it will always be positive. An example that I can give is if you steal someone’s money. You may think that it’s something good for you and it will benefit you but later on something bad may happen only because you did something wrong.

Enthusiasm makes the difference.”

              Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Reflection: In my opinion I think that Dr. Norman is right. Enthusiasm does make a big difference. An example that I can give is if you have a basketball game and you walk in without enthusiasm you wouldn’t do your best on the game. You wouldn't care if you win or if you lose or you wouldn't care on having fun. On the other hand if you walk into the game with great enthusiasm and a big smile on your face you would give it its best and you care about what is happening. This way you would make the game fun and something to care about.

“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”

                    Dean Smith

Reflection: In my opinion I think that what Dean Smith was trying to say was that he didn’t care about winning the games. All he wanted to do was to do the right to do the things that wouldn’t bother or affect anyone.  For example he wanted all his players to get an education so that they can have something in the future. He would rather let their players skip the practice than fail in their education. When he would punish them for cussing it was for their own good it was the right thing to do because punishing them was a way to make them do the right things.

“It’s not about how to achieve your dreams. It’s about how to lead your life. If you led your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.”

                   Dr.

Randy Pausch

Reflection: In my opinion I agree with what this quote is saying. I also think that if you lead your life the right way everything else would turn out fine you don’t need to worry about having luck or karma. For example if you choose to do everything right and you live your life happy with no fighting and not giving anybody else a hard time then nothing bad would happen to you  wouldn’t have to worry on bad karma. In the other hand if you are mean to people and you don’t live your life calm or in a good way there would be things that will turn out to be wrong.

“Every time I’ve done something that doesn’t feel right, it has ended up not being right.”

                        Mario Cuomo

Reflection:  I agree with this quote by Mario Cuomo. The reason why I agree with this quote is because whenever you think that you are not doing something right you need to listen to it. When you think that you are not doing something right it means that it’s not right that’s why you have to think about what you are going to do before you do it. For example when you think about not doing your work in class. You are thinking about not doing it because it may end wrong and you are right there is always consequences to your actions.

Intellegence Plus Character

    Student Success Statement
“Intelligence plus character that is the goal of a true education”

               Martin Luther King JR.

Reflection: I agree with what M.L. King JR. is saying in this quote. The reason why I agree with this quote is because without intelligence and character there is no true education. You should be intelligent about choosing to do the right and pay attention and do your assignments when they are needed to do that is true intelligence. If you don’t have character it means that when you go to school for an education you do it without wanting too or you are lazy and bored that is no way to get an education. If you get an education with intelligence and character you will learn really fast and in a happy way.
